Perth and Gold Coast are considered regional Areas
Perth and The Gold Coast from “metro” to “regional” are no longer considered as “major cities” in Australia to attract skilled migrates who help to grow the population
70% of the population is concentrated in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Also, those are the home cities for about 85% of international students, in Australia. The reason for considering Perth and The Gold Coast as a regional areas is to attract more international students and lower the pressure from these three big cities.
Other cities like Newcastle and Wollongong will also be considered as regional areas for migration and visa purposes.
Why is it so beneficial for a student to study in a regional area?
There are several reasons why students would decide to study in regional Australia:Furthermore, there is an increase in the number of places for the immigration scheme from 23,000 to 25,000 out of 160,000 (as of 2019).
Every day students arrive in Australia and, in many cases, their final goal is PR (Permanent residency). Now it is time to go to regional areas since opportunities in the metro areas are smaller and permanent migration is getting harder and harder every day. Adelaide, Hobart, Newcastle, Wollongong, The Gold Coast or Perth, might be the best option for you if your occupation is under low demand occupation list.
