What a barrel we have for you…

Some will have been lucky enough to share in our initial Buffalo Trace single barrel back in July last year. It was easily our fastest selling release and was somewhat bittersweet, as we fielded hundreds of requests after it was gone from poor souls hopeful that we had a spare bottle or two hiding somewhere.

This sister barrel has been a long time coming with Covid and its impact on international freight throwing a spanner in the works but we’re confident it is well worth the wait.

This single barrel is summed up in one word - more.

More caramel. More vanilla. More toffee. More wood spice. More rich dark fruits.

If anything the nose takes a little longer to open up but when it does it’s genuinely mouth-watering. The palate is flush with all those classic bourbon flavours and this whiskey is blessed with a very long finish. Long enough that it still fills the mouth when you go back for that second sip.

As a lot of you know, Buffalo Trace is aged on an average of 6 to 8 years - this single barrel is aged for 8 years and 3 months - nudging the limits of its big brother Eagle Rare.
