Do-It-Yourself TV Repair

New HDTV technology is a wonder to behold. Thirty years ago no one could have imagined how advanced television would become. But along with this fantastic technology comes an expensive price. If something goes wrong, you will probably be calling for TV repair.

Electronic Technicians are expensive. However, minor troubles won't necessarily need to hire a pricey professional. So, you have your set on and the picture is snowy. The most common cause of this problem is a defective, crimped or loose coaxial cable.

While the television is on move the cable where it connects to the set. Does it affect the picture? If it doesn't try it again where it attaches to the antenna. If it does, try tightening it. Then take it off and try it on another television set. If it creates the same thing to the new set, then it is definitely the cable. So just replace it.

Colour blotches around the edge of the picture are caused by magnetisation. When you put a television too close to other electronic equipment that has magnets this can happen.

Purchase from your hardware store a magnetic coil. Get a strong one. Starting at the top left corner of the screen, hold it a few inches from the screen. Moving in circles, progress across the screen until you have covered the entire area.

Crackling or low output speakers are another easy fix. You have to take the back off the television to do this so be careful not to touch anything having to do with the picture tube. Remember that the high voltage is dangerous to your health. You may have to solder the new speaker into the circuit but just buy a comparable one and replace it yourself.

These are simple fixes, and it doesn't mean you are professional, but it'll feel good to save money by doing home TV repair.
