Zali Bali is now serving Lebanese food in the popular Indonesian island of Bali, bringing a flavour of home to a tropical getaway. While the pandemic wrecked havoc around the world, Mawad, together with co-founders Joe Ghantous, Ibrahim and Joelle Maalouf, and Chakib Abillama, dared to go against the trend and start a business abroad.
Liza Maalouf, a great amateur chef who also happens to be the mother of the co-founders Joelle and Ibrahim. Liza was the main inspiration for Zali, as she had been satisfying hungry tummies with her delectable food for years.
