Gillian Parker embarked on her singing journey at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), where she earned a Certificate in Jazz performance before transitioning into the Classical Voice performance stream.
During her time at WAAPA, Gillian showcased her talents in various settings, from performing in a Jazz ensemble to gracing the stage in operas like “The Marriage of Figaro” with the Western Australian Opera Company at His Majesty’s Theatre in Perth WA. Notably, she portrayed the pivotal role of the Mother Superior in WAAPA’s production of “Dialogue of the Carmelites”.
Post-WAAPA, Gillian continued to share her musical gifts at special events before stepping back temporarily to prioritize raising her family. However, in 2010, Gillian reignited her passion for vocal arts, this time focusing on teaching rather than performing. In her quest to equip her students with the tools for excellence, Gillian discovered “The Institute for Vocal Advancement” (IVA).
IVA stands as an institution dedicated to empowering instructors with comprehensive knowledge of vocal techniques aimed at achieving a balanced, consistent sound across all vocal ranges, dynamics, and styles. This method emphasizes seamless transitions and effortless control, allowing singers to express themselves freely without noticeable breaks or shifts in tone.
