The Arts Centre is located at Surfers Paradise and offer premier cultural facility, bringing visual and performing arts to residents of South East Queensland.
The Arts Center was initially named 'The Keith Hunt Community Entertainment and Arts Center' and known as 'The Center'. It was formally opened in December 1986 and is owned and handled by the Gold Coast City Council. With a second name change, it then turned into the 'Gold Coast Arts Center' and this name stayed until March 2010.
In 1993, the Gold Coast City Council developed the Gold Coast Arts Center Proprietary Company Limited as separate legal entity. The reason for this was to enhance funding income, extend community group engagement and expand marketplace flexibility. The Gold Coast City Council is the sole shareholder in the organization and keeps on giving the majority of funding.
The Arts Center is the Gold Coast's head social office, offering visual and performing expressions to inhabitants of South East Queensland.
The compound houses the Arts Theatre, Gold Coast City Gallery, two Cinemas and the Arts Cafe as well as various stunning function rooms, a chapel and two small performance spaces.
