Prof Michael Smithson PhD is an artist based in Australian Capital Territory, Australia. He is also a Professor in the Research School of Psychology at The Australian National University in Canberra.
Born in 1950, Michael Smithson is an artist based in Australian Capital Territory, Australia. He resided in Australia since 1977.
As an artist, Michael Smithson is primarily self-taught. He has been painting since the mid-1980. His first solo exhibition was in 1995 at Palm Tree Gallery, Townsville Australia. Since then, Michael Smithson has been participating in several art exhibitions in Australia.
Michael Smithson has won several awards. In 2000, he was awarded the First Prize in the category of Mixed Media from the Artists Society of Canberra Annual Members Exhibition.
The most recent achievements were from the Artists Society of Canberra Annual Spring Exhibition in 2010. From there, Michael Smithson won the Second Prize in both Acrylic and Drawing category.
During 2013-2015, Michael Smithson was developing graphics and coding for the digital art-generating program named KaleidoPainter. This program has become the basic platform for his digital artworks.
From 2014 to 2017, Michael Smithson was developing the graphics for videos and games in the Australian National University (ANUx) edX Massive Open Online Course, titled “Ignorance!”
Michael Smithson has been producing artworks from several media, such as:
