Medical & Aged Care Group

Hospital - Richmond, VIC
Medical & Aged Care Group is a Family Owned Business with unique positions in the ownership and management of Medical Practices and the ownership of Residential Aged Care Facilities.
The Group commenced operations in 1993 under founder Ian McPherson. He and his long term friend Kent Lovell were equal shareholders with Lovell occupying an investor role.
Originally, the business operated as a finance company. In 1995 lending operations ceased and the Company purchased an interest in a small Medical Practice in the LaTrobe Valley. In the same year the Company purchased a nursing home in Geelong. This was the beginning of the Group’s dual operations in Medical Practices and Aged Care Facilities.
The Group has grown consistently over the years, always within the limits of its management and capital capacity. As of December 2013 the Medical Division owns and manages 17 clinics and the Aged Care Division owns and manages 5 nursing homes. As at this date Group turnover is around $45 million.
In September 2012 under a company restructure the McPherson Family controls 70 percent of the equity, the remainder controlled by the Lovell Family.
Our vision is to use the principles of a family owned business in which profits are not the sole purpose, to enhance the experience of stakeholders in our two business operations. This ability is enhanced by our strong financial position.
In our Medical business we offer General Practitioners a range of management services to relieve them of the burden of red tape and bureaucracy. General Practitioners are also offered succession planning options through the sale of part of or all their equity under conditions to suit their individual circumstances.
Our Aged Care business owns and operates smaller Aged Care Facilities allowing for the maximum individual attention to residents. Whilst this strategy may sacrifice economy of scale it maximises both residents outcomes and staff satisfaction.
