Man Architects

Man|architects is a boutique practice based in south melbourne, founded in 2008 and formalising over 15 years of collaboration between directors rob nerlich and kate mcmahon with a wealth of experience in housing, education and urban design both in melbourne and london. we have a growing portfolio of built work across the residential and commercial sectors, an emerging practice profile and a strong practice / process philosophy.

practice: design should have inherent meaning, materiality, and achieve clear formal and spatial resolution. our design process and design methodology are premised on achieving highest quality results, working with and celebrating the constraints. we work across scales, and our residential work, school extensions or landscape interventions are celebrated together with large feasibilities challenging new modes of habitation and higher density developments. we eschew a predetermined aesthetic or self-conscious fashion for a considered and timeless outcome which enriches our practice research.
