Welcome to Great Lakes Museum!
Located on the Mid North Coast of NSW, the Great Lakes Museum and Heritage Center is run by volunteers from the Great Lakes Historical Society. Great Lakes Museum are a Not-for-Profit social history and maritime museum engaged in collecting, researching, preserving and exhibiting artifacts and documentary material relating to the area. Our friendly staff are happy to share their knowledge with you or your organization.
Great Lakes Museum welcome bus groups, schools and interested organizations for personalized guided tours of the Museum, by appointment. Morning or afternoon tea can also be provided upon request.
Over the years the Great Lakes Museum has expanded to include the original Tuncurry school building, Cheers Cottage, Police lockup, a working windmill as well as other outdoor displays. Inside the Museums collection has grown to the point where additional space will soon be needed. At present the main display area is undergoing a makeover to expand the existing space and highlight the area’s maritime history.
