BGC has evolved into a diverse construction and contracting organisation, complete with the cast scale, the depth of knowledge and the robust financial backing that comes with being a company of our size. During this journey, the cornerstones put in place by Len Buckeridge - integrity, reliability, innovation and ambition - have continued to play a pivotal role in our company's corporate values and commercial growth.
Len Buckeridge was an ambitious young architecture graduate in 1959, who believed fiercely in the social and economic benefits of home ownership. His five year architectural thesis on low cost housing won the James Hardie prize. He was also driven by a strong desire to grow his fledgling business by finding better ways of constructing and manufacturing. In the process, Len ensure that BGC had an independent, reliable supply of key materials needed to meet its promises to valued customers.
But while we believe diversity if one of BGC's key strengths, so too are the principles which are common to all our businesses. Ideas and initiative were vital to BGC's development and remain among our most valuable commodities. The work ethos and determination stamped on BGC by Len are also to be found at every level of our business.
However, we like to think that above all, it's our name that sets us apart. The letters BGC originally stood for Buckeridge Group of Companies. But now, we strive to ensure they stand for much more, including our guarantee to deliver what we promise.
