Agnes Nienhaus was born in Germany in Rhineland-Palatinate and received a high level of education in Architecture, Structural Engineering and Fine Arts in Austria and Germany. On completing her studies in 1999 she was employed by the University of Stuttgart, the Institute of Lightweight Structures and Behnisch and Partners in Stuttgart, Germany. She has gained valuable experience on a range of large scale commercial projects in Europe and Australia.
Agnes travelled extensively, arriving in Australia in 2003, working in Sydney and Hobart as a project architect on residential, educational and commercial projects.
Agnes has a strong interest in Healthy Interiors & Indoor and Outdoor Garden Designs.
Michael Shrapnel was born in Sydney Australia, educated in Brisbane and Perth and has worked in the field of architecture throughout Australia as well as in the UK. He relocated to Tasmania in 1999 and founded Vivo in 2003. In 2008 he became a founding director of Dock4 Architecture. Michael has specialized in residential design but also has experience in educational, commercial and public sector projects.
Apart from Architecture Michael’s main interest is music. He is a singer and guitar player and has performed his original material for many years both in bands and as a solo performer. He also has a degree in English, majoring in Creative Writing.
Agnes and Michael were married in 2010. They share the same values and interests in sustainable building, healthy living and a passion for good design. Living in Tasmania allows them to create architecture that embodies their own life values of simplicity and sustainability, producing work that is uniquely Tasmanian. They combine their extensive knowledge and experience in collaboration as Beachouse Architecture.
