Bamford-Architects’ design for the new Guide Dogs Victoria Kennel Enhancement Project is an extension and refurbishment of their existing dog accommodation facilities, extends and refurbishes their existing facilities.

The existing kennel blocks will be completely refurbished. The existing exercise yards will be resurfaced and new water-proof canopies will be built over the entire kennel and exercise yard area. The steep slope encourages the circulation of air as heat builds up under the canopy. Folds in the canopy allow areas of near direct sunlight penetration into the exercise yards. Evaporative cooling is provided to the kennels.

The canopy provides a sculptural dynamic additional to the highly visible part of the guide dogs site in Kew. Existing staff amenities and food preparation and laundry areas will also be upgraded. AÂ new hydrotherapy pool and grooming area will also form part of the Kennel Enhancement project.
