Adelaide Gaol located at Adelaide offering the experience the intrigue of one of South Australia's oldest buildings and the eerie place almost 300,000 prisoners called home between 1841 and 1988.

Adelaide Gaol is one of South Australia's oldest remaining colonial public buildings, highlights one of a kind design, and with an abundance history. Experience what life resembled in the slammer for very nearly 300,000 detainees who once called Adelaide Jail home. Open for business from 1841 to 1988, the Jail was one of Australia's longest consistently operational jail offices.

Over those difficult 147 years, the Gaol housed a portion of the state's most famous and perilous criminals. Very nearly 300,000 detainees whiled away some time at His (or Her) Majesty's pleasure, and 45 unfortunates were executed inside its brick wall - including the only lady to be executed in South Australia.
