First of all, you should modernise your roof. For this, you should get the measurement of your roof so you can obtain the required material. For precise measurement, it's a good idea to begin taking the measurements from the bottom first. Don't rush when ascending the roof. You don't want to hurt yourself.

Once you got the right measurement, you should place an order with a reputable provider. Only go for high-quality material. Things you will need include a drill, drill bits, a metal shear or jigsaw, staple gun, and a big garbage can. Other things that you will need include roofing nails, metal screws, and self-drilling wood screws.
3. Get the work site ready
To have a smooth installation process, you should get the work area organised. For this, you should get a strong ladder, a big trash bin, and a spot for tools that are going to be used.
Make sure the cords are not in your way when using electrical power tools. The required tools and other stuff should be placed in an area where you can them without any obstacle.
4. Take off the old roofing
While you install the new roofing on shingles, we suggest that you remove the old roof. Make sure you keep a slow pace so you don't want to rip up the old roofing all of a sudden.
The Installation Process
Follow the steps below to complete the installation.
Edging or flashing consists of metal strips that you can use for closing the roof perimeter. You can use 1 ¼ inch strong nails for fastening the flashing to your new roof. Assure that the edging will cover up the gutter edge.
The flashing is a metal trim that resembles like the edging. The only difference is that it is put over the joints where the various parts of the roof meet. You should use it on the points where the two parts join. Aside from this, you should use it like end caps on top of the sides that join. Make sure you cut the metal the before you install it.
Make sure the metal has covered the entire roof. All the sides should be smooth and there should be no detached parts. Before you use the roofing, remove all the metal, nails and screws.
