Plug molding, which runs along the underside of a wall cabinet or along the backsplash, has a subtle look and offers many places to plug in appliances. Wires will hang down in plain view if appliances stay plugged in.

An alternative way is accenting them with paint or camouflaging them with matching wallpaper. On a tile backsplash, take note of where receptacles will go; mosaic tile is more forgiving of receptacle placement than large tile. In fixed islands, receptacles must be included. A two-height island offers a perfect backsplash location for receptacles.
