About this post

Post Description:

Puri sabji (sometimes spelled poori bhaji) is a dish, originating from the Indian subcontinent, of puri (deep-fried rounds of flour) and aloo (potato) bhaji (a spiced potato dish which may be dry or curried). It is a traditional breakfast dish in North India.

Many Indian households prefer puri sabji and other traditional dishes over cereals for breakfast. Some serve it for lunch along with condiments such as dahi (yogurt) and salad. In central India, puri sabji is served as a street snack. Puri sabji is a vegetarian dish and is popular in India because it is relatively inexpensive and tasty. The dish is also served on railway platforms in India and is served as a packed lunch on trains along with pickle. Puri sabji can also be served with halva.

The humble poori can be eaten in a variety of ways, and there is no right or wrong way to do so. Some people prefer it with simple stir-fried potatoes, while others prefer it with a spicy, runny curry that makes you see stars the moment you bite into it. Some people just eat it with sugar.
The poori is served with curries and accompaniments that represent the general palate of the area from which it originates across India.
