What is crossfit?
Crossfit is a high-intensity exercise program that has gained worldwide popularity. This workout became popular in 2000,k and it is now taught in over 7,000 gyms.
The workout consists of these three components:
• High-intensity aerobic exercise
• Gymnastics
• Olympic weightlifting
The goal of this workout is to force your body to its absolute limits. The exercise measures your muscular and cardiovascular endurance, as well as your strength and flexibility. By the time you stagger out of your intense workout, your entire body has been put through its paces.
The Anatomy of a Crossfit Class
The class starts with a warm-up, which is absolutely essential part. Without the warmup, the risk of injuries is much higher.
After the warm-up, the participants learn and practice one particular movement in an activity training segment (handstand push-ups).
The WOD (Workout of the Day) takes up the bulk of the class, putting participants through a high-intensity workout that works several muscles at once. Since the exercise is varied on a regular basis, participants are unlikely to become bored.
Finally, the class ends with stretching and cooling down.
