"Tanilba" is an indigenous word that means "A place of white flowers". This is due to the many flannel flowers that originally covered the whale tail shaped peninsula where she stands today
The house is an imposing, convict built 6 bedroom stone homestead built c 1831. Tanilba is the oldest original home in Port Stephens
She has broad, colonial wrap around verandahs that overlook magnificent Port Stephens & is surrounded by 3 acres of whimsical, mature gardens full of flowers
A key element is the unique 30m long 1920's wisteria covered arbour with stone pillars and wishing chair
