In 1979 Denis Fung opened his first restaurant, Sun Fay at Toowong.
He became the first person to bring lobster and abalone into a Chinese restaurant in Brisbane.
He had seen how these dishes were crafted in Sydney and Melbourne, and he wanted to introduce authentic Chinese dishes into his restaurant.
He never dreamed that the restaurant would be as successful as it was. He was lucky. His restaurant was close to the University and the TV stations.
The people from these places were more adventurous.
They came, and they came back, some even after they graduated from the university!
And now Sun Fay has become one of many desirable places to go to taste authentic Chinese food.
