Caroma and Plumbing Plus Join Forces in Support of Men’s Sheds

Caroma joined with Plumbing Plus to hold gold coin donation BBQs at selected Plumbing Plus stores across Australia throughout April and May. All donations were directed towards the local chapter of the Australian Men's Shed Association.

Established in 2007, Men’s Sheds have quickly become a vital place in the community where men can meet and find social support and camaraderie.

At the 2nd National Men’s Shed Conference in Manly NSW in September 2007, Professor Barry Golding, a Men’s Shed researcher from Federation University Ballarat, stated in his key note address that “Men don’t talk face to face, they talk shoulder to shoulder”.

Men’s Sheds offer a place for men to be social and learn new skills or hone old ones by providing them the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that contribute to the community. Projects include trades and woodworking, with some groups offering aerobics, tree research, toy making, cooking, ukulele groups, even singing!

Projects aside, Men’s Sheds are a place for men to have a yarn and a cuppa in an atmosphere of old fashioned mateship. They have proven to be a powerful tool in addressing men’s health and wellbeing.
