North Ryde Golf Club
Local Clubs - North Ryde, NSW
North Ryde Golf Club located in North Ryde provides its guests and members a wide range of services and facilities including dining, corporate golf, function areas and many more.
North Ryde Golf Club has a wonderful reputation in the Ryde area for its exquisite quality, affordability and family atmosphere.
A genuine desire to purchase the Club from the controlling entity came to fruition in 1949 when 49.5 acres of freehold land, a clubhouse, dining room, furniture and fittings, two houses, a machinery shed and plant and machinery was purchased for £18,367. North Ryde Golf Club now boasts an 18 hole golf course covering 75 sprawling acres.
In 1938 the Club became affiliated with the Sydney Sub-District Golf Club Association, a distinction which enabled it to participate with other clubs in competition.
The first General Meeting of the Club was held on 19 August 1949. At this meeting a cup was donated and the “North Ryde Commemoration Cup” is still competed for annually to this day.
A new clubhouse was officially opened on 21 October, 1972 by the Mayor of Ryde, Alderman H R S Anderson. Improvements to the golf course continued to occupy a top priority and the 1979/80 period was marked by an extensive greens replacement program.
North Ryde Golf Club’s history carries a tradition of persistence in difficult times and an ability to survive. Renowned for their fellowship and cordiality on and off the course, our members are now able to parade an impressive golfing arena and a handsomely appointed haven of hospitality of which we are justly proud.
