Marigold wants to share with you our passion for Cantonese cuisine. Cantonese cuisine originated in the Guangdong province in southern China where there is an abundance of fresh ingredients.
The management of Marigold Restaurant has been delighting Sydney with Cantonese cuisine for over 30 years. Beginning in 1982 with “old Marigold”, the first Hong Kong style Chinese restaurant in Sydney, at 299 Sussex Street and then in 1986 Regal Restaurant at the corner of Sussex and Liverpool Streets which was famous for its lavish banquets, Marigold Restaurant at George Street is the third restaurant in the group. The first two restaurants were well-loved by Sydneysiders and traded for over 20 years before they were closed due to redevelopment of their premises.
Marigold wants to share with you our passion for Cantonese cuisine. Cantonese cuisine originated in the Guangdong province in southern China where there is an abundance of fresh ingredients from seafood, to meats, to vegetables. Hence, its cooking style has a strong emphasis on the freshness and light treatment of ingredients. We strive to bring you the diversity, refinement and richness of the best of Cantonese cuisine through our yum cha, a la carte dishes and banquets.
Surrounded by traditional Chinese paintings and art work, the 200-seat main dining area offers a stylish but relaxing setting for a sumptuous meal. It is opened for dinner every evening of the week and also for yum cha and lunch on the weekends and public holidays. In addition, five individually decorated dining rooms, catering for groups of up to 60 persons, are ideal for entertaining in private.
With crystal chandeliers hanging from the high barrel vault ceiling of the eastern wing or the glass roof of the western wing, the banquet hall can seat up to 600 guests. By day, it is a bustling space for yum cha and lunch amongst families, friends and business associates. In the evening, it offers a most impressive venue for your functions.
