Restaurants - Surry Hills, NSW
Jazz City is an American restaurant providing both classic American Diner cuisine as well as Texas barbecue, soul food and a bit of New Orleans Creole/Cajun.
"Our menu is a continuous work in progress", says chef and owner Dan McGuirt, " bringing the best of authentic American cuisine to Sydney Australia."
As for Texas barbecue, our meats cook for most of the day and all of the meats are finished cooking just before 6pm. This is when the barbecue is at it's peak readiness for serving. Therefore, the goal is to sell as much barbecue when they open as quickly as possible. It is not uncommon for the restaurant to sell out in the matter of a couple of hours. "If you wish to enjoy the barbecue, it is best that you come as early as possible," Dan explains. "Coming early will guarantee that the barbecue is at its peak and that you will not miss out." Jazz City is a fully licensed restaurant and does not accept bookings or reservations.
Jazz City BBQ, opened its doors for business in August of 2014. As part of the Jazz City restaurant concepts deployed in Sydney Australia by Chef Dan McGuirt, it is based on central Texas barbecue styles. "I have always wanted to open an American barbecue restaurant here in Sydney," says Chef Dan. Conveniently located at 200 Gouldburn Street in Surry Hills, it has a 100 seat capacity (60 inside and 40 seats outside). The interior design of the restaurant is based on an urban city theme with fire hydrants, street signs, street lamps and plenty of neon adorning the place. "It is suppose to look and feel like you are dining in a city", he says. "This is an evolution of our Jazz City concept that started off with Jazz City Diner". Black leather booths, black formica chrome edge tables and black leather chairs fit out the place. Black and white classic jazz video screens are fitted into each booth.
