Berry Patch Preschool
Childcare Services - Kellyville Ridge, NSW
Preschool and Long Day Care Centres
Each room is fully air-conditioned and has been decorated with brightly painted berries. The floors are brightly coloured and colourful equipment, resources and furniture has been purchased to provide a welcoming, inclusive and stimulating environment for the children.
There are two outside play areas. One is for the babies and the other is for the older children. The larger of the two is for the older children and is covered by a pergola and sails and the entire outdoor ground area is covered with soft fall. We have a brightly painted mural stretching along the entire boundary of the outdoor area. Our permanent outdoor equipment structure has two slippery dips and we have a range of equipment including bikes and obstacle courses to set up in the outside play area. The larger play ground also has a stage and wooden cubby house. The babies outdoor play area has a permanent boat structure with activities for the babies, pictures of berries playing and its own sandpit. It is also completely covered with soft fall and has an awning that pulls out to protect the children from the sun.
The Berry Patch has a beautiful garden that the children and staff have worked hard to develop, planting vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers and watering all the plants. Potted plants are distributed through the indoor and outdoor areas.
Security at our centre is well-designed. Families of the Centre enter with a pin code and visitors must buzz to be let in and entry to all rooms is by the foyer. High fences surround the perimeter of our outside play area. All exits from the outside play area have been designed so children are able to leave only with an adult.
The centre implements the National Quality Framework for Early Education and Care (NQF). Incorporating the Early Years Learning Framework, this replaces the previous Childcare Quality Assurance system. The centre takes part in the Assessment and Rating process approximately every 3 years for which a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) is created and implemented. The centre currently has a rating of Meeting.
